Well Reader, we knew it was coming...
The inevitable November snow dump!
We've been walking lots during the November Outdoor Movement Challenge, and honestly, the cold snap usually comes earlier in the month.
So as you're out shopping, prepping for the holidays, and adventuring this weekend...
Make sure to give yourself a little extra time, as the roads and sidewalks are slick while we slowly transition into snowy season.
But before your schedule fills up completely, don’t forget to take a little time for yourself.
A walk along your favourite trail, a stroll around Glenmore Reservoir, or a quick adventure in one of Calgary’s parks is the perfect way to hit pause, move your body, and take in some fresh air.
These small moments outdoors can be the recharge you didn’t know you needed — and yes, they’re just as important as your holiday planning.
Here’s what we’ve got for you this month ⬇️

Where To Catch The Sunset
One perk of shorter days: the gorgeous sunrises and sunsets this time of year. Especially when it snows and makes everything a bit brighter. Here are our fave spots to watch the sun go down.

Explore Around The Reservoir
Most people stick to the paved path around the Glenmore Reservoir. But there are so many hidden gems and parks around this natural space. Find these forested trails, long bridges, playgrounds and more next time you visit here.

Don't Miss The Last Year Of These Lights 🎄
Every year, we head to Confederation Park Golf Course to catch the Lions Festival of Lights Christmas display — this is its 39th year! However, the organizer is finally retiring, so rumour has it this may be its grand finale. Read more from the Calgary Herald here.

Take A (Winter) Hike
Unlike the summer season, cooler months promise quieter trails, empty parking lots and familiar landscapes blanketed in snow. Hitting the trails now is the perfect way to appreciate the calm and boost your mood outdoors.

ABOUT US
At Parks Of Calgary, we’re on a mission to provide a community that encourages visitors, newcomers and long-time Calgarians to get out of the house and into the outdoors, by exploring the people, parks, places and partners that make our city unique.
When we created Parks Of Calgary in 2019, and parksofcalgary .com in 2023, we set out to create an inclusive community where people of all ages and backgrounds can come to experience the best of our city — by providing first-hand information about what’s going on in Calgary, Alberta. That includes detailed blogs, seasonal guides, an interactive map called the Adventure Atlas, a local business hub called Partner Plaza, a private community called the Pioneers, and more.
After years in operation, and over 20,000 combined followers across Instagram, Facebook and email, we will always aim to get better at what we do every single day! In addition, our primary focus is on our relationship with you. This way, every time you hang out with us, you end up getting an idea that takes your outdoor adventurers to the next level.
We particularly appreciate it when you, our community members and our customers, provide feedback via testimonials, reviews, email replies and comments left on our site or social media accounts. That feedback is important to us because we can use it to make your next experience at Parks Of Calgary even better than the last! It’s our promise that we provide a community you will fall in love with over and over again. Since we put so much effort into the relationship with you, we hope that any investment in us is exactly the way you hoped it would be.
